Master of Science - Natural Sciences Program

Geology

The Department of Earth and Space Sciences offers graduate programs in both Environmental Science and Geoscience as part of the Masters of Science - Natural Sciences degree.  ESS faculty prepare MS students in each track for transition to a doctoral program or employment in industry, government or education following the completion of graduate degree requirements.

Water Research

  • A total of 36 hours of graduate coursework is required for each degree track.

  • Students in the Environmental Science track have the option of pursuing either a thesis or non-thesis degree.

  • Students in the Geosciences track must complete a thesis as part of their degree requirements.

  • A limited number of teaching assistantships are available for students enrolled in the thesis option.

    • Graduate assistantships pay both a stipend and waiver of tuition.

    • Teaching assistants work up to 20 hours per week and instruct or assist in laboratory classes related to their graduate and undergraduate coursework.
